Reasons Why the English Language is Hard to Learn

Got this in my literacy class...thought it was hilarious and so true...

  1. The bandage was wound around the wound.
  2. The farm was used to produce produce.
  3. The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.
  4. We must polish the Polish furniture.
  5. He could lead if he would get the lead out.
  6. The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert. (My favorite)
  7. Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present.
  8. A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.
  9. When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.
  10. I did not object to the object.
  11. The insurance was invalid for the invalid.
  12. There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.
  13. They were too close to the door to close it.
  14. The buck does funny things when the does are present.
  15. A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line.
  16. To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.
  17. The wind was too strong to wind the sail.
  18. After a number of injections, my jaw got number.
  19. Upon seeing the tear in the painting, I shed a tear.
  20. How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?

So school started this week.  So far, things are going well.  I'm taking my second education cluster which includes reading, writing, and field experience.  I'm also taking a class about the legal and ethical issues in education and music of the beatles with Mr. Andy Hollinden.  That's going to be a great class, as can be expected with Andy.  I'm really excited about all of my education classes, too.  I feel like I'm finally taking some classes that are actually going to be useful after I graduate.  I'm excited about the legal course because it will be interesting to learn about all of the different laws that have to do with education.  Plus, I really don't know as much as I should about stuff like that, so I'm eager to learn more.

I'm also really excited about my writing class.  I've always loved writing.  In high school, I religiously wrote in a journal, but I didn't keep up with it when I came to college.  My professor wants us to write in a journal for at least twenty minutes five days of the week.  Some people are griping about this, but I'm really excited.  I've been wanting to be more disciplined in my writing, and I feel that since it's a class, it will help me be more consistent and hopefully keep up with it even when the class is over.  I've also had some strange conviction to write lately.  I did a lot of reading over the summer, and I read a memoir that really touched me and made me want to write about things that have happened in my life in the hopes that it will touch someone else's life - especially things that have happened over the last year.  I just don't know how.  I'm fine with the actual writing and grammar.  Grammar and writing have always been my strongest subjects in school.  It's just the opening up and telling a story in a way that makes it interesting for others that I sometimes have a problem with.  I'm hoping that I can grow in that area over the next semester and become a better writer.   And, hey, you never know - maybe I'll write a book someday. ;)

We've been having a lot of problems with Murphy lately.  He's just really misbehaving.  He barks all the time, attacks Binx all the time, chews on EVERYTHING all the time...  It's just been really stressful.  Cory and I really think it mainly boils down to the fact that our place may just be too small for him.  He doesn't have a lot of room to play, and we can't let him play outside as much as we would like to.  We've thrown around the idea of finding another home for him because of how bad the last few weeks have been, but I'm hoping it doesn't come to that.  We got a muzzle yesterday, and I guess it's working fairly well.  He definitely doesn't like it.  He also quickly learned what it was so anytime we come near him with it, he freaks out and barks and bites at us.  It's just a really stressful situation, so prayers/advice would be much appreciated.  Or if you know someone who has a house/backyard and wants a puppy, pass that along, too.  Like I said, I really don't want to get rid of him because I love him dearly and he's adorable.  But it's just getting really bad and Cory, Binx, and I are getting really stressed with him.  Hopefully things will work out, though.

Other than that, not a lot is going on.  We bought a keyboard last week, so I'm trying to teach myself piano.  I really want to start writing music again, and I've been aching to play piano.  I'm hoping I can pick up on it fairly easily and start writing again.  Cory and the boys have been inspiring me, and now I want to play music and perfom, too. :)

Well, I'm going to go take a little nap before my husband gets home from work.  Love you all!!

So, I finally chopped all my hair off.  But, I LOVE it!!

So, the busyness of my life is finally starting to calm down.  We are all moved in, and my time consuming biology class is done (which, btw, thanks to all the extra credit she gave us, I received a 101% in ... I love Ivy Tech).  I only have a little over a week left of babysitting and I am counting down the days.  This kid I'm watching stresses me out way too much.  Then, I'm going to start waitressing at Macri's.  I go in for orientation today.  I'm really excited about it.  I'm excited about waitressing again, and I love the restaurant so it should be fun.  Plus, I'll get to work with my brother-in-law, which is great! :)  Then classes start up in a few weeks.  Oddly, I'm really excited about classes starting.  I have all but one class with my good friend Andrea, so it will be nice to get to see her all the time.  And, I'm taking another class with Andy Hollinden - Music of the Beatles.  So that should be fun.

Cory and I had a nice date night last night.  We got all dressed up and went to Puccini's for dinner (thank you, Kirk ).  It was amazingly delicious.  And that place is pretty fancy.  It was the first time I've been in there, and it's really nice.  Then we went to see Ulises perform in "The Mikado."  All I can say about this is - Hilarious.  It is now my favorite opera.  It really made me think about how blessed we are here in Bloomington.  With the school of music here, we can see some amazing performances, and I was just reminded of this last night.  The cast and orchestra were beyond amazing, and it really was an all around great show.

Well, that's about it.  I just thought I'd update real quick since I haven't in far too long.

Hope all is well with everyone!! :)

Time to reveal the results!  To prove that summer is now here and I have nothing better to do than count my husband's clothes, here is the final count:

Number of shirts Cory owns:  126
Number of pairs of pants Cory owns:  33

Yes, he does indeed have a larger wardrobe than most women on this earth, but I still love him.  The main thing that shocked me about this is that the boy owns 16 plain white t-shirts!!!  SIXTEEN!!  Just plain Hanes white t-shirts!    What is the point in that??  After I revealed these devastating numbers to Cory, he did say that we would go through his closet sometime in the next few weeks and get rid of some t-shirts.  We better because I would like to have at least some closet space...

Anyway, now maybe I'll give an actual update.

-  Married life is great.  I have no complaints thus far. :)

-  I started my new babysitting job on Thursday.  This kid, Rudy, is so cute, and it's going to be a ton of fun.  It's going to completely wear me out, but it will still be fun.  I've actually decided to keep a list of "Funny Quotes by Rudy" throughout the summer.  Here is funny quote #1:  Rudy: "I know how to spell butt, B-U-T-T!"  Kim:  "Really?  Well, who taught you that?"  Rudy:  (very proudly)  "My Dad!!"  The funniest part about this quote is that it was completely random.  We were playing catch, and he just randomly blurted this out.  Yeah, this kid is going to be tons of fun. :)

-  Cory and I brought Binx (my cat from home that I've had for ten years) back to Bloomington with us the other night, so he is now our kitty. :)  He is still trying to get used to the apartment, but I think he'll be fine.  He's adorable and I'm SO happy to have him with me. :)

-  Cory and I felt very adult and married today.  We bought a couch and dining table set!!  We found a couch at Furniture Exchange that matched Cory's recliner perfectly!  AND we found the dining table set of our dreams!!  Both were used but in great condition and very reasonably priced.  They get delivered on Tuesday, and we're very excited!  We also ordered a coffee table online from Wal-Mart which should be here the end of the week.  Our living room is going to look awesome!

Well, I think that's it.  If you haven't yet, be sure to check out our honeymoon pics.  We should have some wedding pics up pretty soon as well, so stay tuned!

So, it's been a long time since I've updated, but I think I have a pretty good excuse.

To make a very long story short - The wedding and honeymoon were both amazing, and I am very much enjoying married life.

...Which brings me to the fun part of this post

While I was putting away my wonderful husband's laundry this afternoon, I was once again blown away by the outrageous amount of T-shirts and clothes that my spouse has collected over the years.  Anyone who knows anything about Cory knows that he has a bigger wardrobe than most girls.  So, I decided to have a little fun and see just how big his wardrobe is.  (This is what happens when Kim isn't working and doesn't have to worry about homework or planning a wedding.)  But before I reveal the much anticipated results, I thought I'd have a little fun and see if anyone can guess how big his wardrobe is.

So, get your thinking caps on, and count up all those times you've seen Cory and how he's wearing a different t-shirt everytime, and give your best shot at the following questions:
  1. How many shirts does Cory own?  (This includes T-shirts, long-sleeved, button down, dress shirts - everything.)
  2. How many pairs of pants does Cory own?  (This includes jeans, khakis, dress pants, shorts, and pajama pants.)
The polls will be open until 6 p.m. tomorrow night, and then I will reveal the results.  So, have fun, but please, be nice.  (I really hope Cory doesn't get mad at me for doing this...)

Happy Guessing!!

P.S. - I love my husband more than words can say, and he makes me the happiest woman in the world.
